Hourglass Cosmetics is one of my all time favourite luxury beauty brands. They are vegan, cruelty-free and annually donate and work alongside Animal Rights Organisations. If you have yet to try Hourglass, their formulas are like no other and although on the pricey side being a luxury brand, the products are undoubtedly worth it!
Hourglass launched their Vanish Airbrush Pressed Powder earlier this year and this month, I finally bit the bullet and purchased it.

The powder retails for a hefty £57 for 10.5g and is available in 5 shades; Translucent, Translucent Light, Translucent Medium, Translucent Tan and Translucent Deep.
I picked up shade Translucent Light as after swatching the powders in a local Space NK, the Translucent shade was more of a neutral leaning slightly warm tone whereas Translucent Light was much better suited to my complexion and leaned more cool-toned.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The packaging is classic Hourglass with a gold-mirrored finish and although I typically like a weighty feel to my more luxe products, I appreciate that Hourglass didn’t make the compartment too big and bulky as it makes it perfect to travel with and pop in your handbag for day-to-day touch ups.
I’m a big fan of the mirror on the inside compartment – powder is typically a product a lot of people will carry with them so it’s great to have that built in. I’m not overly fussed about the small powder puff that comes with it, I’m yet to use this and don’t think I will unless desperate!
The powder is incredibly lightweight and finely milled meaning when first applied, it looked natural both under the eyes and on the rest of the face. On first application I found I was able to build up the powder without it looking caky on the skin and most importantly, stayed true to it’s shade and didn’t darken my overall complexion.
My main note from my first impression of the powder and since wearing it regularly to test that due to the sheer coverage it provides, if you are wearing a medium-full coverage foundation, you may need to apply more powder than you initially thought to achieve your desired finish. That being said, as the powder is so lightweight, it doesn’t affect the overall finish by looking too heavy.

FINAL THOUGHTS
In short, I’m very impressed with the Hourglass powder, and no matter what complexion products I wore with it, it lasted incredibly well. As previously mentioned, I’m fussy when it comes to powders but since trying this, I haven’t reached for my usual go-to’s and have found that the Hourglass is much better for the finish, overall look and longevity of my makeup.
I agree wholeheartedly with the claims from Hourglass and agree that the powder does instantly absorb any oil and shine, minimises the appearance of pores and leaves a blurred finish that lasts all day!
My only wish for the powder (aside from it being cheaper) is that they had launched with a more extensive shade range; I feel that customers would benefits from a wider range of medium and deep tones and right now, it’s not as inclusive as it should and could be.
Alongside the powder, I tried out the Vanish Concealer which I previously hated (strong word but it was cake central and not for me) however 3 years on and I am now thoroughly enjoying this.
